Two children, two terms of presidency and 24 years of marriage.
Could that be the recipe for a happy marriage? Well, it looks that way if Barack and Michelle Obama’s relationship is anything to go by.
Since Barack became the 44th President of the US in 2009, we have seen him and his wife fist bump on election night rallies, slow dance at the Youth Inaugural Ball, share smooches for basketball game kiss cams and sing along to Usher’s hit single, ‘Yeah’.
The pair married on 3 October 1992 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. Michelle’s brother walked her down the aisle while Barack stood at the altar alongside his brother, who also served as his best man.
‘And he got me into one of these discussions again, where, you know, he sort of just led me down there and got fired up and it’s like you’ve got blah blah blah blah, and then dessert comes out, the tray comes out, and there’s a ring!’
Barack’s presidency might be over, but his and Michelle’s role as inspirational, iconic and game-changing political figures lives on.
