As the occupants of the White house will be changing soon, lovers of Michelle Obama’s style are certainly still expecting a level of style and class in their new first lady. While that expectation remains, the designer of Michelle Obama, a New-York based French designer, Sophie Theallet has burst the bubbles of all by informing us that she has no intention to dress the new First Lady of the united state of America because of the ideologies of her husband, president-elect Donald Trump.

She revealed this in an open letter;

“As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next first lady,” she wrote in an open letter published Thursday.

“The rhetoric of racism, sexism and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by.”

This letter is presently causing negative reactions on social media, as most people feel Sophie Theallet, 52, who has worked in the United States for more than fifteen years, and a regular fixture at New York’s fashion week, should not have such political mindset in business.

“I am well aware it is not wise to get involved in politics,” Theallet added. “That said, as a family-owned company, our bottom line is not just about money.”

The current US First Lady Michelle Obama, has been dressed by Thealet several times and Michelle has provided welcome publicity by wearing several of the designer’s dresses since 2009 coupled with the fact that her values speak volumes. To Sophie Theallet, she’s more for associating with people’s value than their fame or money and to her, her values and the family of the president-elect’s aren’t thesame.

“She has contributed to having our name recognized and respected worldwide,” Theallet wrote of the current first lady. “Her values, actions and grace have always resonated deeply within me.”
